NEW TO MT. ZION

Where do I take my children?

Starting with excellent nurseries, there is something special for children of every age. During every service there are safe, clean, and highly staffed nurseries for children two years old and under. For the infants, mothers can request a pager so that the nursery attendants can easily contact you if there is a need. For children three years old through sixth grade there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered classes. These classes are staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. Hospitality greeters can direct you to the appropriate nursery or children’s classroom.
Who is Pastor Dexter Landers?

Pastor Dexter Landers has been the senior Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church since 2006.  You can read more about him here.
What about my teens?

Our teen Sunday school classes are broken down into twomain divisions: teen boys and teen girls. Most of the teens attend a class for one hour at 10 a.m. and then attend the main service at 11:00 a.m. with their parents.
How should I dress?

There is no strict dress code to attend our public services, but in case you’re wondering, a majority of our church members wear their “Sunday best”—the men in a dress shirt and dress slacks, typically with a tie, and the women in modest dress.
Am I expected to participate in the offering?

No. We don’t invite you to Mt. Zion Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace. Please don’t feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
Visiting Mt. Zion Baptist Church

Visiting any church for the very first time can be a tough experience.  Well, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and “at home”! Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.

Our current property right off Highway 5 at the Carroll / Douglas County line is not “appropriately” laid out for free flow of parking, but you’ll see parking cones and someone to help direct you. Hospitality greeters will meet you at any door to the building, give you a complimentary church bulletin, and direct you to the right classes or services. They can also answer other questions you may have.

Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. and provides a smaller group setting where you are invited to meet people, enjoy perhaps some coffee and donuts, and hear a teaching lesson more directly applicable to your life-stage. The best way to get to know people at Mt. Zion Baptist Church is to visit one of these adult Bible Sunday school classes. After Sunday school, there is a brief intermission and then the main 11 a.m. service begins in the auditorium. You will enjoy the beautiful and inspiring music of the choir, ensembles, and soloists. The music is always followed by a clear, helpful, and challenging Bible message from Pastor Dexter Landers. The 11:00am service is right at one hour in length.
